The Augusta Clinical Research Council (ACRC) program has
been established to explore the potential improvements
in quality, efficiency, safety and effectiveness of
clinical trials that are being carried out by the eleven
hospitals operating in the region. The ACRC aims to
improve communication and coordination between institutions
and client companies. With administrative support from
the Georgia Medical Center Authority, community wide
assessment of the Augusta hospitals and healthcare
organizations was conducted resulting in the development
of the Augusta Healthcare
Activity Summary.
The ACRC members meet periodically to explore the opportunities
and the potential areas of improvement between the Augusta
healthcare providers. The ACRC also serves as an ideal
platform for companies interested in identifying clinical
trials collaboration opportunities. Companies are periodically
invited to the ACRC meetings to present their clinical
trial efforts to explore any synergies between the participating
institutions.
